Type A Personality Gardening

I always have big hopes and dreams for a garden. I remember the garden my Grandpa used to plant for us growing up. It gave us bounties of green beans and tomatoes. Most years, though, I fall short. Barely getting anything in the ground. This year, I vowed it would be different.

I researched and found the best way for me to garden: Square Foot Gardening. Granted my raised beds aren't exactly even, so it was square foot..ish. I would like to rename this Type A Personality Gardening. Measuring and lining off the squares and filling them, according to a chart I created, was SO satisfying. My skills for organization were also a plus. I tried to also apply some companion gardening methods. Only planting certain veggies together as they would benefit each other. It was like a garden sudoku of sorts. I also did quite a bit of research into what plants mosquitos hate. Now my patio has become one big herb garden! All plants repelling those nasty biting critters.

So, a long weekend and I am left now to watch it all grow. My husband mentioned to my son this weekend while we were planting..."Isn't it amazing that we put these plants in the ground and they grow into food that we can eat?" Amazing concept that is easy to forget. Below I have posted my garden chart if you have any interest in starting your own.
