My Berkey

I try to not only eat things that are good for me but also drink as much water as I can during the day. I always tell me kids that the second you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated. But, it's amazing how full of chemicals are water can be. Many people, including myself, have water that comes from the refrigerator. Seems like a convenient idea and it comes with a filter so it must be clean, right? Unfortunately, no. Many filters on the market don't clean your water as good as you think they do. I was thinking of purchasing one of those water services that come to your house and deliver water. But, that was too expensive and I no longer wanted to drink bottled water for environmental reasons. Then, I came across a company called Berkey. This is direct from their website:

I LOVE my Berkey and when I am forced to drink the water from the fridge I can taste the difference. This filter is so amazing that if you had to drink water from a lake or river, it would filter it drinkable. Filters only need to be changed every 3 or 4 years depending on how much you drink. So, even though initial cost is expensive, you are saving in the long run on monthly changing filters from other systems. They also make shower filters. If I wouldn't drink the water why would I choose to shower in it? The shower heads that come with the filters never need to be replaced and come with 3 adjustable settings for water. Which was a nice surprise and the actual filters need to be replaced every year or so. They now how a new product as well... filtered water bottles. This is a god send for my family. One of the complaints I get from my family is that they want cold water and the Berkey is room temperature. So, the fact that Jackson can fill up this water bottle with cold water is big. We are thinking of purchasing 4 of them and then when we are on vacation we can eliminate the need for buying packs of bottled water.
