Scratchy Throats and Taking it Easy

I have felt for about a week now that my mind was in fast forward. My thoughts couldn't go fast enough. It's like I had some gust of wind behind me propelling me from one thing to the other. Alas, now I have a cold. Thanks to Jackson, who stayed home, Monday, with the same thing. Kids are resilient though...back to school and feeling fine on Tuesday, Nothing awful. Mainly a scratchy, itchy throat and I have lost a little pep in my step. Go figure that I make it through the worst of the cold and flu season to get something mid March. Although the weather changes really affect me, along with that damn daylight savings time. Is still have not caught up on my sleep yet. Our air purifier had to be cleaned as well, so thats not doing the job of filtering germs like it usually does. Either way, I am here and here is what I do: (All links for products are provided in the notes below.)

I take elderberry. I should have been taking it all along. It's usually pretty good at preventing colds but really good when you've got one. 1 tsp./day for maintenence or 1 tsp./a few times a day for a cold. I also take an amazing supplement called EHB, I take a few at the sign of a cold and it wipes it out pretty quick. It saved me from an horrible chest cold I had 3 years ago. Fruit is a must. It is filled with vitamin C and other antioxidants, so I also stocked up on that. The more colorful, the better! Lastly, I drink a cold busting smoothie. It has a little kick on cayenne to get the mucous draining.

Cold Busting Smoothie

1/2 banana

1/2 cup frozen but slightly thawed mango chunks

1 or 2 spears pineapple

1/2 cup fresh squeezed orange juice (not tropicana, etc.)

1/8 tsp. Cayenne powder

splash of non dairy milk

handful of frozen greens (spinach, kale, blend, whatever you choose)

Blend and enjoy!
