Life's Little Whispers

I find it's a lesson that many have to learn the hard way. The lesson of when enough is enough. When it's time to slow down. Many of us don't listen to the whisper. They ignore it and eventually just get hit on the head with a brick. But, what if we listened to that little voice and what is that little voice anyways?

It's the knowing that you need to slow down but your schedule doesn't allow it. It's society's demands of you. It can be a sign, a wave of synchronicity....those moments of serendipity. Life's little coincidences are usually the way spirit whispers to you. I have learned, the hard way, to pay attention to these things. I like being busy. Not because I feel guilty for not being busy but because it keeps my mind focused and I'm usually busy doing something creative which feeds my soul. But, you know the feeling when the busyness feels like your brain is on fast forward. We all have moments like these when we need to power through. Maybe you have a deadline at work, or like my daughter, it's the tech week before a musical you are putting on. The key to those situation is to take moments when you can. Soak up the slivers of peace amongst the chaos.

I find illness comes on when we don't listen to those whispers. It's your soul's way of forcing you to slow down when you wouldn't listen before. I realize a virus is a virus but I believe that everything has bigger meaning. Isn't it funny how it's hard nowadays to even find time to be sick! Right now, my daughter is sick. The flu I think. I had to force her to stay home yesterday because she is worried about missing too much school, being behind in assignments, missing rehearsals, etc. This should not be the norm, but unfortunately is usually is. The lesson that we should be teaching is, when your body speaks, you listen. When you are sick your only job is to focus on getting well. If you don't stop for a minute to take care of yourself you won't be good for anyone else. There are obligations to others in life, things that need to get done. But your biggest obligation is YOU!
