How I Live Earth Day Everyday

I have a pretty large stance on this and while I know that little changes do help, I think they amount to peeing in the ocean when it comes to global warming. (On a side note, it exists! Despite what you might hear, science proves it. Global warming is an issue. It was not created by China and it is not fake news. If you believe that, you're delusional.) Anyways.... I don't keep the water running when I brush my teeth. I buy appliances and use lightbulbs that have the energy efficient sticker on them. I recycle and I do most of the things that many people try and do to "save the environment." What many do not know is that the number one thing you can do to help the environment is to stop eating animals. More so than any of the above practices combined.

Researchers at the University of Oxford found that cutting meat and dairy products from your diet could reduce an individual's carbon footprint from food by up to 73%. Lead author Joseph Poore said:“A vegan diet is probably the single biggest way to reduce your impact on planet Earth, not just greenhouse gases, but global acidification, eutrophication, land use and water use.“It is far bigger than cutting down on your flights or buying an electric car,” he explained, which would only reduce greenhouse gas emissions.“Avoiding consumption of animal products delivers far better environmental benefits than trying to purchase sustainable meat and dairy."

I question, though, that even if people know this information, if it would even make a difference?

In the two years that I have been a vegan, I have saved 477614 US gallons of water and 3004 lbs of OC2. Everyday, I am finding new ways to be more environmentalist and I still have room to improve. If you cannot commit to being a full on vegan maybe try to commit to at least one day a week of meatless meals?

Happy Earth Day!
